Acacia berlandieri
T81-02 — Zone 8a to 10— Texas & Mexico
Huajillo This light, airy, multitrunked tree is a perfect companion to cactus and agaves in the dry garden. The fern-like foliage gives a delicate soft texture when everything else is rigid and structured. In spring, creamy white puffball-like flowers cover the branches and are pleasantly scented. Nearly thornless, this acacia is easy to work around--providing protection from the heat of the sun but allowing bright enough light for desert succulents to thrive. To 15' in frost free areas and usually half that in frosty zones.
