Agave americana var. protoamericana 'Silver Surfer'

Silver Surfer Agave! Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery made this fine Agave selection out of a batch of seedlings he grew from seed we sent him years ago. This plant grows in form much like many A. americana var. americanas with stiff, erect, broad leaves but has more cold hardiness. The leaves have a pronounced silvery-blue color and exhibit a good bud imprint pattern. One of its attributes is that it is slow to offset thus the base of the plant does not become overwhelmed with tons of pups.
