Agave x leopoldii
Y10-97 — Zone 8b to 10— Garden origin
This old hybrid is the result of the cross of Agave filifera and A. schidigera. Each parent is quite attractive in its own right, but their offspring is, in my opinion, ultra handsome. The plants form tight, compact rosettes, composed of many thin, up-curving, dagger-like leaves. The leaves are a shiny dark-green and are perfectly highlighted by white, curling filaments that line the leaf margins. When hit by the right light these filaments seem to make the plant glow and sparkle.
