Anisacanthus quadrifidus var. wrightii - Select Red
Hummingbirds love them! Flame anisacanthus displays abundant, trumpet-like, cadmium-red flowers all summer, no matter how hot or dry it gets. This tough perennial needs a good haircut in late winter in order to maintain a shapely form and flower at its optimum for the coming year. This form has the best color I have seen - an improvement over the species.

Notes and observations about this plant
- Probably desires/requires more sun. by Tony Borowiecki
- I have this planted on a 12" rise above the edge of my driveway here in the Low Country of SC. Partially shaded by palms and other trees. The plant does wonderfully well (too well!) but very few flowers. Probably desires/requires more sun. It has either re-seeded or sent volunteers out by root growth, or both and is becoming invasive, I fear. (Posted on 7/23/14)
