Dwarf Yatay! One of the many Butias in the complex of species that is "Butia" in Southern Brazil, Paraguay and Northern Argentina. This species has the form of most Butia with the feathery, arching leaves, but tends to be a smaller grower. Leaf colors varies from acid-green to dusty-blue. In habitat the plant is typically found growing in very sandy areas and in dunes, where most of its trunk development is subterranean. The amount of trunk that eventually becomes exposed depend on seedling variability and soil type. Reportedly, some populations of this palm have more exposed trunks than others. Hardy to the low 20's F.
