Capsicum annuum var. aviculare--variegated strain
Chili con queso!
Clint Roitsch was visiting some friends in Bayside, TX and noticed that their Chili Piquin plant had a variegated sport near the top of the plant. Clint took a ripe pepper off of the variegated sport, planted the seed and 3 of the 5 seedlings came up variegated. We were given a plant, collected and planted some seed. All of the seedlings came up with varying amounts of variegation. The variegation ranged from green and white to green, white and purple. Even some of the fruits develop variegation. Prefers part sun to bright shade. Makes a nice neat mounding accent plant for the perennial border a real conversation piece for any garden.
The variegation varies from seedling to seedling.
