Carex divulsa

Y11-70 — Zone 7 to 10Central Europe

Berkeley Sedge! Sedges are quickly gaining popularity as groundcover alternatives to lawn grasses and Liriopes. They are tough, adaptable, easy to care for and look great. There are numerous species of diverse forms and shapes, and there is truly a sedge capable of fitting most any environmental niche. Carex divulsa, commonly know as Berkeley sedge, is a great mounding, evergreen sedge with lush, dark-green blades. Its mounding form is great for developing a casual looking groundcover for the more naturalistic look. It is tough and adaptable, growing well in California, Texas and other diverse locations. Prefers part-sun or bright shade but will grow nicely, even in full sun, if planted in rich, deep soil and is kept well irrigated.
