Anadenanthera colubrina
Y11-78 — Zone 9 to 10— Argentina
Cebil Colorado!
Native to South America, this subtropical hardwood has a mimosa-like silhouette with distinctive smooth-white bark on the upper half of the tree profile that gives way to black tortoise-like obtrusions that become so numerous on the older parts of the main trunk that it turns completely black and rough.
The apple-green leaves, held in flat plains, are delicate and move in the slightest breeze. White puff-ball flowers are produced in mid-summer. A drought tolerant fast growing tree that likes alkaline soils.
