Dasylirion berlandieri - 3 gal
T52-01 — Zone 7b to 10— Mexico, Nuevo Leon
Blue Sotol! The Dasylirion berlandieri is my favorite blue leaved sotol and my favorite non-Agave woody lily. I love the bluish color of their upright, grassy leaves, which have a decidedly cooling effect on the psyche. Inducing cool thoughts is a very important trait considering these plants are often planted in very hot places. I love the way the leaves quiver and sway in breezes, adding a level of lively animation to the garden, that few plants can. And then I love white to golden spines that line the margins of the leaves highlighting and contrasting the cool blue. Did I mention that I love this plant? It has so many admirable traits, I am sure you will love it too.

Notes and observations about this plant
- Incredible plants by RoseAnn
- I have these planted in a labyrinth. Those under a tree but with the most wind do the best while the ones that are more in the open struggle far more and sometimes die. Still, they are incredible plants but ouch... (Posted on 9/25/11)

- My Yucca Do plants survived -10F at my location in the record freeze of 2011 in Albuquerque, NM with days below freezing during the event. (Posted on 4/9/11)
- Hardy Sotol by Doug Grimmig
- Plant survived buried in over 2 feet of snow for greater than two weeks during the record Maryland snow fall of 2010. It did show a small amount of whitening on a few leaves but is healthy and growing. Lusby, MD (Posted on 6/7/10)
