Iochroma fuchsioides
Y07-90 Iochroma fuchsioides
Zone 9 to 10 Native to Central and South America Grows to 4'h x 4'w
Heat loving fuschias! Iochromas are subtropical shrubs that are related to Angel's trumpets (Brugmansia). Iochroma fuchsioides has bright red-orange lipstick-shaped flowers that attract the attention of hummingbirds and humans alike. Iochromas love the heat and flower continuously through the summer. These tropical looking plants are root hardy in the deep south and therefore can be treated as subtropicals. This plant is not as large as Iochroma cyanea which in frost-free areas can get 10'h x 8'w, Iochroma fuschoides gets about half that size.
