Dyckia aff. fosteriana var robustior
Fosteriana var robustior!
Traveling in the state of Parana, Brazil, we came across this sensational Dyckia. We were impressed by the many flower spikes adorned with numerous orange flowers. Plants in habitat tend to be composed of a multitude of rosettes with each having numerous thin, flattened leaves armed with small, marginal teeth. The leaves are burgundy but green to cola-colored variants also occur in the population. Older leaves exhibit a striking silver cast near the base, which adds to the overall pleasing effect.
We list the cold hardiness zone for this plant fairly conservatively because we have not planted one outside yet for trial but suspect the plant should be moderately frost tolerant based in where the plants were found in Parana State, Brazil
