Dyckia x Seedling mix
Seedling Mix!
When growing seed collected from open pollinated Dyckia, you never know what you will get. The colors of the leaves vary; the leaf shape, length and width varies; and the amount and arrangement of the spines vary. This make growing Dyckia from seed so much fun. This batch of seedlings came off of a D. platyphylla x D. enchlorioides clone that we have been evaluating and yet to offer. The parent plant is a large, robust plant with broad, cola colored leaves, exhibiting intermediate traits of both parents. The leaf color for the seedlings ranges from green to red but we have disposed of all of the pure green plants because folks don’t like those. The plants being offered have some tint of red color but the intensity of color varies form plant to plant.
For the person just getting started growing Dyckia and who want an affordable entry, this seed batch is for you. These plants should make great landscape additions whatever their final leaf color. The parent survived temperatures down into the mid teens but the exact hardiness of these plants is unknown.
