Erythrina herbacea var. herbacea
Y06-35 — Zone 7b to 10— southeastern USA
Coralbean! Native to the sandy soils of southeast Texas and extending into the southeast US is one of our most attractive, under-used herbaceous perennials. Before the foliage emerges, this form produces 4' to 5' tall spikes of the deepest-red flowers you can imagine! All this drought tolerant plant needs is an annual late-winter grooming to remove all the previous years wood--clearing the way for the floral show to follow!
