Compass Barrel Cactus!
The Compass Barrel Cactus can get quite large reportedly up to 9' tall but usually up to around 5' after many years. The spine color tend to vary from plant to plant ranging from white, red, yellow or brown and are somewhat flexible in texture. Flowers are yellow, which if properly pollinated result in round yellow fruit. We are uncertain which subspecies this collection represents but the seeds that these plants came from were reportedly collected north of Ajo, Arizona.
This species occurs in a very dry habitat and resents excessive moisture at any time of the year. If you are in a moist, humid zone steps should be taken to protect this plant during prolonged rain events.
