Forestieria angustifolia 'Pendula'
Weeping Texas Swamp Privet!
I love the form of this South Texas native shrub. I enjoy how the pendant stems arch and mound in a free form fashion creating an informal flowing shrub that could easily be labeled as living modern art. This Forestieria has small, narrow green leaves during the warm summer months, but is deciduous in the winter. When the leaves fall, they reveal sculptural aspects that are concealed during the summer, providing the garden with interesting perspectives all year round.
If you delight in "plant bondage" (perfectly clipped mounds and boxes) please leave this free spirit out of your collection, but if you appreciate unfettered self expression, then this plant is for you.
