Hesperaloe nocturna
Y01-98 — Zone 8a to 10— Sonora Mexico
Night Blooming Hesperaloe! This plant develops into dense grass like mounds of narrow, wiry, dark olive-green leaves, which are lined with white, curling filaments. In summer the plant produces tall, thin flower spikes which can reach up to 12' long. The arching stalks branch towards the end and carry numerous, 1 to 1-1/4", whitish-green, recurved bell-like flowers, which open up at night. Requires a well drained soil but does not like loose, sterile, sandy soils.
