Hesperaloe parviflora Red form
Y08-80 — Zone 5 to 10— southwestern Texas
Hardy red yucca! Woody lilies like Yuccas have really become popular in recent times and people everywhere want to grow them in their gardens. Unfortunately, many yucca-like plants are not hardy above zone 7b. H. parviflora, though not a true yucca, has proven to be hardy in parts of zone 5. The plant looks like a clumping yucca with arching grass-like foliage up to 3' long. In summer, salmon colored bell-shaped flowers are produced on the upper 1/3 of 4' to 6' tall flower spikes. An adaptable yucca relative with wide appeal.

Notes and observations about this plant
- Hardy Hesperaloe by Doug Grimmig
- Survived buried in over 2 feet of snow for greater than two weeks during record Maryland snowfall of 2010. These were seedlings I grew from seeds I collected from my mature plants. No plant showed damage and are healthy. Lusby, MD (Posted on 6/7/10)
