Hymenocallis caribaea Tropical Giant
Y04-98 — Zone 7 to 10— West Indies
Everyman's Hymenocallis! This is certainly the most forgiving and beautiful of all the white spider lilies, which explains its widespread cultivation. Since it has been so widely grown it is difficult to determine where it was native but most experts postulate that it is originally from the West Indies. A well watered clump will eventually become a hedgerow waist high. The term 'everyman's Hymenocallis' was taken from Thad Howard's book "Bulbs for Warm Climates".

For years I had tried to find out the name of this plant! I knew it was a type of spider lily but couldn't find the name. Found it on Yucca Do's website today (July of 2011)!
It was given to me by an elderly neighbor, about 7 years ago who did not know its name. Now I can tell her what it is!
The flowers are fragrant! Mine is a giant lily! While drought-tolerant , it multiplies best, I think, if kept moist. (Posted on 7/18/11)
