Mimosa dysocarpa
Y01-93 — Zone 8 to 10— West Texas
Velvetpod mimosa! This light, open shrub produces numerous cane-like stems that reach to about 5'. As the year progresses and summer commences, an abundance of pink (fading to white), fuzzy, elongated flowers are produced on the upper 12 in. of the limber stems. A wonderfully kinetic plant that utilizes the slightest breeze to enliven the sunny border or xerophytic garden bed. Catclaw like thorns do line the stems, but are not deadly or overly annoying.
