Russelia coccinea - San Carlos
Coral flowers!
Graceful and airy, this mounding spreader loves a long, hot summer and rewards us with a continuous supply of coral-red flowers. Unlike the common firecracker bush (Russelia equisetiformis) with its harsh-red flowers, this plant has soft-coral blossoms arranged in clusters along arching stems. These flowers are bell-shaped instead of tubular, and very showy! We have previously listed this plant as Russelia sp. San Carlos.
This plant is very drought tolerant once established but needs monitoring as a new transplant. During the first season in the ground this plant needs consistent moisture, avoiding long dry spells, especially if it is HOT. This plant also does not like irrigation water with high sodium content.
Availability: Out of stock.
