Trichocereus aff. candicans
Q01-38 — Zone 8b to 10— Argentina
Years ago we received this Trichocereus (syn. Echinopsis) amongst a batch of Tichocereus terscheckii (syn. Echinopsis terscheckii). We noticed that it started offsetting at a small size so knew it was not T. terscheckii. We planted it out in the Hempstead landscape to see what it did and the plant stayed a small size, and clustered at the base. In 2007 the plant bloomed and produced large white flowers. The flowers opened at night but stayed open long enough during the next day that we were able to enjoy their majesty. Theses are seedlings from that blooming event.
