The sounds of birds! This cheerful looking tuberose is the largest growing of the hybrids. The thick ivory-colored flowers are speckled with small lavender spots. These light colored flowers stand up to the heat and make excellent summer cut flowers - lasting for weeks! Note: Polianthes are summer growing and winter dormant. These plants need warm soil temperatures in order for them to sprout. Depending on where you garden the soil may not reach proper temperature for emergence until late spring or mid-summer. Avoid planting the rhizomes outside if you have cold, wet soil and the soil is unlikely to warm sufficiently for some weeks because the rhizomes have a potential to rot if kept cold and moist. Also in cold wet winter climates it may be advisable to lift and store the rhizomes in a warm dry area and replant when conditions are appropriate.
